View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Mrs. Myra Jordan Sowell, 75, resident of the Santa Fe Community, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 following an extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Friday after 12:00 noon at the funeral home. A native of Ardmore, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Will D. Jordan and Katie Turner Jordan. On May 28, 1955 she married James E. "Jimmy" Sowell who survives. Mrs. Sowell was a homemaker and helped with all aspects of their farm. She loved her animals-the cows, dogs, cats, goats and ducks and loved growing her flowers. She was a member of Santa Fe United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Jean (Jerry) Ogg of Santa Fe; and her son, Steven James Sowell of Santa Fe. She was known as "Beba" to her three grandchildren, Holly, Cody, and Jonathan; and her great grandchildren, Madison, Karma and Scarlett. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nelle Jones, and her brother, Charlie Jordan. Active pallbearers will be Cody Sowell, Danny Fox, Jeff Foster, Randy Maxwell, Byron Gidcomb, Wayne Slaughter, Perry Johnson, and Matthew Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Dugger, Walter Dycus, Tommy Anderson, Dr. Cummins Couch, Dr. Karen Davis, Dr. Janice Vinson, Alan Spychalski and staff of Home Health Care of Middle Tennessee; and members of Santa Fe United Methodist Church.
