View Video TributeView Funeral WebcastMr. Myron Claude Thomas, 90, former resident of Crestland Drive, died Friday, December 19, 2014 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Jackson Heights Church of Christ with Andrew Roberts and Shawn Jeffries officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the church. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lawrence County native was the son of the late W.C. Thomas and Mae Clifton Thomas and was a 1942 graduate of Haylong High School in Mt. Pleasant. On April 12, 1947 he married Dorothy Woodard Thomas who preceded him in death November 14, 2004. He joined the U.S. Navy and served as a torpedoman aboard the U.S.S. Sullivans in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr. Thomas was an insurance agent for Interstate Life Insurance Company for twenty years and later retired from Union Carbide. He was an active member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for forty-four years. He is survived by a son, Wayne (Patricia) Thomas of Estill Springs; daughter, Linda (Larry) Yeager of Columbia; brother, Jimmy (Ruby) Thomas of Chapel Hill; granddaughters, Lee Ann Yeager (Tim) Garrison of Columbia, Jennifer Yeager (Michael) Rans of Rockford, Illinois, Heather (Gregg) Hickman of Capistrano Beach, California; grandsons, Heath (Michelle) Schadegg of Austin, Texas, Jonathan (Michelle) Yeager of Knoxville; twelve great grandchildren, Will Garrison, Tyler Garrison, Thomas Garrison all of Columbia, Nicholas Hickman, Maxwell Hickman, Isaac Hickman, Addison Hickman all of California, Jacob Rans, Madelyn Rans, of Rockford, Illinois, Lindsey Luskin of Austin, Texas, Jon Yeager and Lillie Yeager both of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Margaret Thomas of Mt. Pleasant; brother-in-law, Roy Ellingboe of Tampa, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by sisters, Martha Thomas Spencer, Dorothy Thomas Ellingboe, Juanita Thomas Prentice and brothers, Oswald Thomas, Hoffman Thomas and Robert Thomas. Active pallbearers will be Tyler Garrison, Thomas Garrison, Heath Schadegg, Will Garrison, Jacob Rans, Michael Rans, Carl Martin, Lester Crane, Jeff Nicholson, Jimmy Duvall and Jimmy White. Honorary pallbearers include Elders and Deacons of Jackson Heights Church of Christ, Bradley Dugger, John Saunders, Hugh Phillips, Bill Hambek, Bobby Fox, Clifton Kelley and Wayne Bolin.
