View Funeral WebcastMrs. Myrtle Davis McNeese, 84, long-time resident of Laurel Circle, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Life Care of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 12:00 Noon at Oakes & Nichols with Wendell Robinson and Tim McNeese officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Turney Davis and Virginia Smith Davis. She was a graduate of Jones High School in Lynnville and Columbia Business College. Mrs. McNeese worked in the finishing department at E. I. DuPont Corporation for 25 years and later for Abernathy Reclaim Company. She was a long-time member of Graymere Church of Christ and formerly a member of Odd Fellows Hall Church of Christ in Giles County. Survivors include her children, Sheila McNeese Alderson of Columbia and Sherwin (Penny) McNeese of Nashville; grandchildren, Cheyenne (Jennifer) McNeese, Jill Alderson Baker, and Matthew McNeese; great-grandchildren, Brennan McNeese, Landon Baker, and Chloe McNeese; sisters, Eilene Dale of Pulaski and Sarah Pilkinton of Columbia; brothers, Norman Davis of Lynnville and James Davis of Diana; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Laura Uselton, Ladye Sellers, Robbie (James) Edwards, Herbert McNeese, Cecil (Janice) McNeese, and Rebecca McNeese; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, D. J. McNeese, Jr. on March 19, 1992; and brothers, Cecil Davis, Noble Davis, and Joe Wayne Davis. Active pallbearers are Matthew McNeese, Barry Davis, Larry Davis, James Davis, Larry Hubble, and Brad Thompson. Honorary pallbearers include E. I. DuPont Corporation retirees, Dr. Thomas Dake, Donna Lynn Thompson, Cathy Sellers Cullum, Teresa Deak, Norma Jo Murray, Linda Pilkinton, Faye Davis, Derrick Dale, Sheila Long, and Morgan Abernathy.
