Nancy Ruth Griffin Moore, 90, died Tuesday, June 9 2015, at NHC Hillview with her family thanking God for her wonderful life on earth. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Elsey officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Nancy, a Maury County native, was born in the King's Daughters Hospital on February 26, 1925, daughter of the late William Edgar Griffin and Myrtle Schrader Griffin, their only child. She was enrolled in the cradle roll at First Baptist Church as an infant and at the age of nine years accepted Jesus as her Savior and Lord. She attended Andrews Elementary School, Columbia Central High School and Columbia Business College. Her initial employment was with the bookkeeping department of W. W. Evans & Company, and later with Southern Bell Telephone Company from 1948 - 1961 until the birth of William, her only child. Nancy and Virgil H. Moore, Jr. graduated from Columbia Central High School in May 1943. They were married at First Baptist Church in Columbia on December 20, 1947. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, Nancy had studied under Mrs. John Gant and had sung in church choirs, weddings, and other special events. She was active with the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (APTA) and had also been active with the James K. Polk Memorial Association serving several years as the corresponding secretary. She was a member of West End Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School class. In addition to her husband, Virgil H. Moore, Jr. of Columbia, she is survived by her son, William Griffin Moore, Sr.; daughter-in-love, Jenny Brawner Moore; grandchildren, William Griffin Moore, Jr. and Jennifer Moore (Josh) Webb; nephews, Jeffrey (Ana) Hobbs, Joseph (Karen) Hobbs, and Jimmy (Rita) Hobbs; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jaska Moore and Billy S. Hobbs. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Erwin, Ken Lovell, Jeffrey Hobbs, Joseph Hobbs, Jimmy Hobbs, Zeke Maddux, Josh Webb, William Sanders, Rob Jones, and Marlin Church. Honorary pallbearers include Randy & Leesa Stevens, Waymon & Helen Hickman, John Tomlinson and Teresa Beck, Dr. & Mrs. Roy Harmon, Joe & Betty Lancaster, Elton & Jerri McCabe, Larry & Carol Atema, Mary E.
