Nancy Susan Wiser

Nancy Susan Cromwell Wiser, 80, a longtime resident of Columbia, Tennessee, died Friday, October 9, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be conducted Friday, October 23, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the funeral home.

Nancy was born September 12, 1946, in Maryville, Tennessee, to the late Carl Cromwell and Brazil Patty Cromwell. She graduated from Townsend High School in 1964 and worked for many years at Heil Quaker and InnerCity Products in Lewisburg.

In 1984, she married James Herbert “Bud” Wiser, who preceded her in death on October 6, 2020. Nancy enjoyed crafting, thrifting, growing flowers, and collecting frogs.

Survivors include her children, Stan Johnson of Townsend, Tennessee, Steve Johnson of Columbia, and Leigh Ann Abernathy of Pulaski; five grandchildren, Zachariah (Vanessa) Johnson, Kinsley Johnson (Sam) Davis, Allison (Steven Green) Abernathy, Erin Abernathy, and Ashley Abernathy; and four great-grandchildren, Adalee River Davis, Layton Davis, Colin Green, and Elodie Johnson; and a special friend Theresa Yant.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Michael Wiser, and a brother, Carl Edward Cromwell.
