Mrs. Nannie Lou Wells Denton, 103, former resident of New Lewisburg Highway, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Life Care Center of Columbia where she had made her home for the past thirteen years. Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Dennis Satterfield officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late John Wells and Emma D. McKelvey Wells. On June 24, 1933 she married Leland Aris Denton who preceded her in death December 1, 1997. Mrs. Denton was a retired dietician with King's Daughters' School. She enjoyed housekeeping, flower gardening and crocheting and was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. In her later years she was especially close to her daughter-in-law, Joann Wiss, and two granddaughters, Tammy Eddlemon and Cynthia Kennis who were devoted to her and offered many years of loving care.Survivors include a son, Clyde M. (Virgie) Denton of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Joann Wiss of Columbia; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and her family at Life Care Center of Columbia. Mrs. Denton was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Aris Denton in 1978; a sister, Mabel Braley; and two brothers, Clabe Wells and Clyde Melvin Wells.
