View Funeral Webcast Nannie Jo Rea Grissom, 92, resident of Edenburg Drive, died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Williamson Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with John Vaughan and Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Joe Elliot Rea and Nannie Zula Wells Rea and a 1939 graduate of Culleoka High School. She was manager of Rone Jewelers in downtown Columbia for several years and later retired from the District Office of JRN/KFC Enterprises. On September 9, 1939 she married Ernest Grissom. Their fifty-two year marriage ended with his death April 18, 1991. A charter member of Graymere Church of Christ, she was a devoted helpmate to her husband during the years he served as an Elder of the congregation and remained active in church affairs as long as her health permitted. Survivors include her sons, William Rea (Gail) Grissom of Huntsville, Alabama, George Elliot (Rosemary) Grissom of Chesterfield, Missouri, and John Bryce (Kathy) Grissom of Brentwood; grandchildren, William Rea "Bill" Grissom, Jr., George Elliot Grissom, Jr., and Stephanie Jane Grissom Attarian; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Murphy Rea. Active pallbearers include Bill Grissom, George Grissom, Kyle Attarian, Royal Dickson, Ross Whitley, and Jack Malone. Elders of Graymere Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.
