Mr. Winford Chester "Ned" Laughmiller, 93, retired sales representative for Nabisco and resident of Park Circle, died Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Vann, Rev. Chip Hunter and Rev. Melinda Britt officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the church. A private burial will take place at another time with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He earned his Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Business and Education from George Peabody College. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Laughmiller was a member of the Columbia Lions Club and Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. He was a very active member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Martha Bond Laughmiller of Columbia; daughter, Lynn Laughmiller Davis of the Bethesda Community; grandchildren, John Lawrence (Thankful) Davis, Massie Bond Davis, William Alexander Davis; great grandchildren, Marion Light Davis, John Levi Davis; sister-in-law, Rachel Bond Franklin; niece, Fonda (Larry) Walker; and nephew, Anthony (Ashley) Bond. Pallbearers include John Lawrence Davis, Massie Bond Davis, William Alexander Davis, Larry Walker, Anthony Bond and Dan Knott.
