View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Catherine Lanell "Nell" Hutton Legg, 87, retired sales clerk and former longtime resident of North Bigby Drive, died Friday, February 7, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at South Gate Church of Christ with Brian Gregory and Joe Macer officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday after 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Monday after 12:00 noon at the church. The family suggests memorials to South Gate Church of Christ Building Fund, 2700 Pulaski Highway, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born January 11, 1927 in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late John Bynum Hutton and Ina Gardner Hutton. She was a 1945 graduate of Bodenham High School in Giles County. Mrs. Legg was employed for nineteen years at Fashion Bug in Columbia and later worked at Peebles Department Store for two years. She enjoyed gardening, walking, and sewing. She was a member of South Gate Church of Christ. Survivors include daughters, Gail (Jim) Ferguson of Franklin, Kathy (Pete) Coggin and Beverly Ledford, both of Columbia; sons, Wayne (Yvonne) Legg of Columbia and Keith Legg of Culleoka; brothers, David Hutton and Larry Hutton, both of Pulaski; John (Adean) Hutton and George (Judith) Hutton, both of Lawrenceburg; Donald Hutton of Decatur, Alabama; sisters, Lucy Guthrie of Columbia and Peggy (Duane) Berry of Pulaski; brothers-in-law, Ronald Story of Pulaski, Gene (Marilyn) Legg of Columbia; sister-in-law, Doris (Gene) Isom of Columbia; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Thomas Fagan Legg, and sister, Elaine Story. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and her great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
