Nell Morris Springer, 93, former resident of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Christian Care Center of Ashland City. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. P.J. Shaffer officiating. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lawrence County native was the daughter of the late William Morris and Louella Morris. She was employed for many years at Ray's Jewelers in downtown Columbia and was a member of the Maury County Arts Guild and Perceptor Roe Sorority. Mrs. Springer was a member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte Springer Smith of Chattanooga; son, Kevin Springer of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Betty Blankenship Springer of Pegram; grandchildren, Shane Smith of Augusta, Georgia, Keith Springer of St. Petersburg, Florida, Kim Springer Williams of San Mateo, California, Amanda Springer Bechet, Aaren Springer, Aimee Springer Baldwin all of Columbia; eight great-grandchildren; brother, John Morris of Lawrenceburg, brother-in-law, James Springer of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Springer and son, Billy Aaron Springer. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
