View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Nolie Bell "NoNo" Chatman Powell, 92, longtime resident of Southport Road in the Porters Chapel Community, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Timmy Harris and Richard Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Friday after 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Willie Chatman and Ethel Norman Chatman. She was married to James E. Powell who preceded her in death on August 30, 2000. Mrs. Powell was very active in rearing many children including several nieces and nephews who affectionately called her "NoNo". She was a wonderful cook and caregiver to her extended family and enjoyed visiting with people on her front porch. She was a member of Halls Chapel Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Ronnie Wayne Powell of Porters Chapel Community; two daughters, Diane (Marshall) Cothran and Cathy (Thomas) McNabb, both of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Willie Mae (Riley) McWilliams of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Jones and Christy Cummins, both of Mt. Pleasant; Amanda Cothran (Jeffery McNeece) of Culleoka; one sister-in-law, Wilma "Squeak" Chatman of Mt. Pleasant; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Sharp and Dorothy Grooms; and four brothers, Oman Chatman, Leston Chatman, John Chatman and Carl Chatman. Pallbearers will be Larry Chatman, Jimmy Chatman, Donald Sharp, Tony Chatman, Floyd Cates, William Massey, Tim Cates, and Ricky Grooms.
