Mrs. Nora O'Neal Spann Houser, 101, longtime resident of Houser Road in the Water Valley Community, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 3 - 7: 00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Santa Fe Cemetery, c/o Norman Harris, 3929 Sowell Hollow Road, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Dickson County native was the daughter of the late James Spann and Pinie Oakley Spann. On July 28, 1929 she married Earl "Cap" Houser who preceded her in death February 28, 1996. Mrs. Houser was a farmer most of her life and also was employed with Wargosa Shirt Factory for a time. She was a member of Water Valley FCE Club for over seventy years and loved crafts, sewing, crocheting, traveling and always enjoyed working and being busy. Survivors include a son, Robert Lewis (Kathryn) Houser of Franklin; grandchildren, Janette Houser, Karen (Lloyd) Smotherman, Tammy Summar all of Franklin and Bobby (Cathy) Houser of Thompson's Station; great-grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie) Houser of Water Valley, Christopher Houser of Illinois, Ryan Plunkett, Zoe Summar both of Franklin, Chasen Plunkett of Republic of Georgia; great-great grandchildren, Madison Houser, Reagan Houser both of Water Valley; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Rosa Belle Gray and Mamie Harris and a brother, Coleman Spann. Active pallbearers include Bobby Houser, Lloyd Smotherman, Matthew Houser, Christopher Houser, Ryan Plunkett, Chasen Plunkett and Donald Love. Honorary pallbearers will be Anise McGowan, Mattie Beth Pigg, Lemmie Nelson and members of the Water Valley FCE Club.
