View Funeral WebcastOmie Jewell Ragsdale Potts, 72, resident of the Santa Fe Community, died Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Life Care of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Brother Jack Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Born in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Ragsdale and Bessie Kelley Ragsdale. Mrs. Potts was a member of Santa Fe Baptist Church and enjoyed raising flowers, sewing, and scrapbooking. She married Larry Potts on October 6, 1959. He preceded her in death February 25, 1992. Survivors include her daughters, Jackie Potts Skelley of Chapel Hill and Dannette Potts (Bryan) George of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Ben (Megan) Skelley of Chapel Hill, Cody George, and Robert George of Santa Fe; sisters, Iris Kelley of Columbia, Kathy Wray of Cornersville, Sheila (William) Kuner of Gadsden, AL, Cindy (Tom) Floyd of Lewisburg; brother, Kenny (Linda) Ragsdale of Summertown; brothers-in-law, R. L. Potts of Santa Fe and Daniel McCandless of Columbia; special friends, Beth Burleson, Virginia Lovell, Jean Hood, and Mildred Baker; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Marie Sclafani, Esther Potts, and Narvie McCandless; and brothers, Frank Ragsdale, James Ragsdale, Doug Ragsdale, and Truman Ragsdale. Active pallbearers are Ben Skelley, Cody George, Robert George, Jeremy Dotson, James Potts, and Joey Potts. Honorary pallbearers include family and friends and nurses and technicians at Life Care of Columbia.
