View Funeral WebcastOpal Reed Riley Collier, 82, clerk at Hickman's Grocery for 27 years and manager of Culleoka High School's cafeteria for 25 years, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at her residence in the Culleoka Community. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Herb Helton and Tony Lancaster officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Culleoka. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lewis County native was the daughter of the late George Joseph Riley and Lessie Catherine Vandiver Riley. She was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church. Affectionately known by everyone as "Nanny," she enjoyed dancing and working with her flowers. She was married December 2, 1943 to Tommy Leroy Collier, Sr. who preceded her in death November 25, 1989. Survivors include sons, Tommy L. "Tony" (Sissy) Collier, Jr. of Culleoka and Charlie (Amy) Collier of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Dot (Lewis) McMillion of Culleoka; sister, Joann Anderson of Mt. Pleasant; brother, George (G. W.) Riley of Williamsport; grandchildren, Mikey Collier of Columbia, Trey Collier of Culleoka, Covey Collier of Mt. Plesant, Polly Hobby Collier of Culleoka, and Chance Collier of Hampshire; great-grandchildren, Lee Collier and Mitchell Collier; great-great-granddaughter, Alora Collier; dear friend and traveling companion, Joyce Helton of Lynnville. She was preceded in death by sisters, Covie Simmons, Adie Baxter, Frances Howell, and Onnie Baxter and brothers, Bob Riley and Dick Riley. Active pallbearers are Trey Collier, Mikey Collier, Mitchell Collier, Tim Clark, Chucky Hines, Phillip Brasfield, Kevin Ingram, and Caleb Benefield. Honorary pallbearers include Leroy Jarrell, Mattie Hobby, Louise Chapman, Deborah Jackson, Becky and Keith Perales, Wanda Clark, Kevin Perales, Barbara Lewis, Melody Jarrell, Tommie Jarrell, Carol Dye, Patricia Perales, Pam Holland, past and present students at Culleoka High School, members of Open Door Baptist Church, and employees of Maury County Equipment Company.
