Ovie Travis Pennington, 84, homemaker and resident of Keg Springs Road in the Hampshire Community, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1608 Hampshire Pike, with Bishop Ray Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Greenfield Bend Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols and Monday after 11:30 a.m. at the church. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints and Hampshire History Society. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Raymond Pennington of Hampshire; daughters, Carolyn (B. F.) Wilkinson of Bath Springs, Linda (Joel) Lopez of Hampshire, and Marietta (Steve) Lake of Woodbury; sons, Ray (Penny) Pennington of Hampshire and Phillip (Karen) Pennington of Rock Island; sisters, Helen Fowler of Corinth, Mississippi, Barbara Skelley of Santa Fe, Glenna (Thomas) Finerty and Sylvia (Ernie) Cobb, both of Hohenwald; brother, Kenneth (Jean) Travis of Hampshire; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Travis and Eldridge Lee Travis, Jr. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
