Patricia Brown Selle, 88, born October 11, 1935, in Wilkes County, Lomax, North Carolina to Jessie Binum Brown and Edna Ruth Richardson Brown, retired businesswoman and long-time resident of Columbia, Tennessee died peacefully on January 13, 2024.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jeff Jacobs officiating. A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will meet with friends on Saturday before the service from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00P.M. at Oakes & Nichols.

Pat was a proud graduate of the North East High School. She also graduated from Patricia Stevens Finishing School in Philadelphia, PA. While working at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, she attended the University of Delaware. She graduated from Columbia State Community College earning her Associates Degree and was a member of Gamma Beta Phi. At the age of 81, Pat graduated from Warner University, Magna Cum Laude, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Christian Ministry, and was a member of Alpha Delta Alpha. She held a special honor as she was identified as the oldest graduate on record from Warner University at the time of her graduation.
Pat loved restoring old houses and entertaining. She restored Treehaven and formed a group of ladies called “The Word Perfect Ladies”. They entertained each other in their homes, traveled, attended the Nashville Symphony and enjoyed traveling abroad together.
Pat was the first woman in the state of Tennessee to become a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser. She was a member of the National Association of Professional Appraisers and the Middle Tennessee Board of Realtors.
Pat was the founder of the Spring Hill Library and started a Mother’s Day Out Program at the Spring Hill Presbyterian Church. A member of FUMC, she taught Sunday School over the years. Pat also served on multiple Maury County Boards and Commissions, was a columnist for The Columbia Times, and supported various charities and institutions.
Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Brown and her mother, Edna Ruth Richardson Brown Patton, her sister Shirley Ann Bradley, Brother Robert Patton, her sons, Curtis Marshall Selle and Richard L. Stewart.
She is survived by her children, Tricia Selle, Cheryl Watson (Paul), Chris Selle (Melanie), along with 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren, and many life-long friends.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Compassus and Morning Pointe for the loving care they provided.
Pallbearers will include Larry York, Jim Sproul, Bill Smith, Bob Grefseng, Jim Dooley, Micheal Stewart and Richard Stewart. Honorary Pallbearers are the Word Perfect Ladies and the First Disciple Class.
