Patty Johnson

Patty Florence Sweeney Johnson, 82, retired employee of General Electric and resident of Pleasant Drive, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 12:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Dan Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Carter Sweeney and Lola Mae Williams Sweeney. She was married to Calvin C. Johnson who preceded her in death on January 5, 2004. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed reading, music, and traveling. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia (Rick) Coleman, Brenda (Eddie) Harris, Debbie Sanders, Lisa (Bobby) Tubville, all of Columbia; grandchildren, Kim (Duke) Morgan, Danny Coleman, Steve Black, Lori (David) Baker, Bret Harris, Sherill (Carl) Bumgardner, Gary Sanders, Angie Tubville, Suzanne (Daniel) Wray; fourteen great grandchildren; special son-in-law, Terry Sanders; sister, Ruth Lentz; and several nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet, Mia. She was preceded in death by three brothers, W. C. Sweeney, Robert Sweeney, and Roy Sweeney; and sisters, Brownie Holloway and Jewell Dawson. Active pallbearers will be Steve Black, Danny Coleman, Gary Sanders, Bret Harris, Carl Bumgardner, Daniel Wray, and Matthew Morgan. Honorary pallbearers include former employees of General Electric, Dr. Hrishi Kanth, and doctors and staff of Maury Regional Medical Center. The family would like to express a special thank you to Maury Regional Medical Center ICU Department, Jean Wright, Ashley Tarpley, Dr. Jothian Ahd, Chaplain Lyndall Propest, and Gina Potts at NHC Columbia.
