Paul Jeter Boatright, 85, retired land surveyor, died Friday, January 31, 2014 at his residence on Lady Diana Drive. Graveside services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Don McKee officiating. Military honors at graveside will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Notes of sympathy may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born and reared in the Glendale Community in Maury County, he was son of the late Hubert Boatright and Pearl Jeter Boatright. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Navy. For forty years, he was a land surveyor and draftsman for the State of Tennessee and later was self-employed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Jane Gifford Boatright. Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Woodard of Asheville, North Carolina; sons, Larry Paul (Thelma) Boatright of Lawrenceburg and Terry (Martha) Boatright of Columbia; grandchildren, Lauren Woodard, Heather Pearson, and Robert Lawrence Boatright; great-grandchild, Haley Marie Boatright. He was also preceded in death by brothers, John Boatright and David Boatright. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
