View Funeral WebcastPaul Kenneth Jackson, 76, local businessman, farmer and resident of McKinnon Lane, died Friday, April 16, 2010 after a three-year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with John Vaughan officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery on Thompson Lane in Nashville. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1864, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born July 15, 1933 in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Alvin Jackson and Lona Jackson. He was a 1951 graduate of Mt. Juliet High School. He was drafted in the U. S. Navy in 1955 and served with VP28 at Naval Air Stations in Hawaii and Alaska until his discharge in 1958. Following military service, he enrolled in the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he earned a degree in Business Finance in 1962. Mr. Jackson had a long career as President of the Federal Land Bank in Maury, Lawrence, and Williamson counties. He was a certified Real Estate Appraiser and worked as an independent consultant on many re-appraisals for the FDIC in the late 1980s. As a Real Estate Broker, he specialized in real estate investments and land values and also served as an expert witness in legal proceedings related to property issues. As a member of the faculty of Columbia State Community College, he taught Real Estate Finance courses for several years. Mr. Jackson enjoyed all aspects of farming and dedicated his life to maintaining a high standard of excellence in all his business and personal endeavors. He was a member and active in the activities of Graymere Church of Christ. He is survived by his children, Kay Jackson Artibee of Nashville and Neal Clay (Sherry Stubblefield) Jackson of Summertown; granddaughter, Madeline Grace Artibee, who brought much love and light to her PaPa.; his former wife, Doris Byrd Jackson of Franklin, who he considered the love of his life for all of his days; and a sister, Mary Jackson Harris of Nashville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Jackson Bogle. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Jim Thomas, Will Rivers, Richard Groce, Colonel Johnny Holland, James H. Wright, Phillip Paul, and the Mt. Juliet High School Class of 1951.
