Pauline "Polly" Lovett

March 19, 1915 — June 13, 2013

Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Dawson Lovett, 98, retired Maury County Trustee, resident of Poplar Estates, and former longtime resident of Turpin Circle, died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Phillip Dawson officiating. Entombment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born March 20, 1915 in the Cross Bridges Community of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Dawson and Myrtle Smith Dawson. On February 18, 1950 she married William E. "Jack" Lovett, former Maury County Sheriff, who preceded her in death on May 15, 2005. She was a 1933 graduate of Hampshire High School and attended Columbia Business College. Mrs. Lovett was employed in the Maury County Trustee Office for thirty years and served as Trustee for ten years. Affectionately known to her family as "Sister", she loved spending time with family and friends, baking, and flower gardening. She was also an avid animal lover. Mrs. Lovett was a member of Highland Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include niece, Jackie King Bell of Franklin; nephew, Phillip (Kay) Dawson of Lawrenceville, GA; great nieces and great nephews, Kathie (Randy) Higgs of Columbia, Beth Gregory of Brentwood, Todd (Courtney) Dawson of Atlanta, GA, Brett (Jennifer) Duluth, GA; great great nieces and great great nephews, Dawson Higgs, Cody (Jessy) Higgs, Katie Higgs, Jennifer (Max) Fuller, Jacob Gregory, Jackson Gregory, Cadyn Dawson, Clara Dawson, Parker Dawson; great great great nieces, Jacqueline Reid Fuller and Caroline Fuller; and special friend, Linda Brown. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Dawson King; and brothers, J. P. Dawson and Henry Dawson. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
