Paxton Lee Farris, 17, a student at Columbia Central High School and resident of Columbia, Tennessee died Sunday, January 15, 2006 as a result of an automobile accident. On Wednesday, 18 January, thousands of people gathered at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home where Terry Peery and Barry Farris delivered moving eulogies celebrating the life of a young man whose kindness, generosity, and empathy for his fellow human beings knew no bounds. Then, his best friends took Paxton to his final resting place at a quiet section of West Point Cemetery in the tranquil countryside of nearby Columbia, Tennessee. He was born on June 13, 1988 in Davidson County, Tennessee. He was survived by his mother, Sheri Butler Farris (Robert) Newbern of Columbia; father, Stephen Lee Farris of Columbia; maternal grandparents, Johnny and Barbara Butler of Columbia; fraternal grandparents, Stanfill and Archie Farris of Columbia, as well as his step-sister, Katie Newbern; aunts and uncles, Stan and Pattie Farris of Culleoka, Larry and Jodi Newbern of Virginia; cousins, Leanna Farris of Culleoka, Amanda Newbern and Kevin Newbern both of Virginia; and his special childhood friends, Kristin South of Santa Fe and Lauren Church of Columbia. Paxton’s pallbearers were Seth Moss, Paul Nickell, Dylan Hughes, Seth Allen, Keaton Woods, Mike Callaro, and Chad Blades. His honorary pallbearers were all his friends from Columbia Central High School.
