Penny Ann Wright

Penny earned her wings late Thursday night on August 21st at the age of 58. She battled health issues related to scleroderma the last few years here on earth. Her husband Dwayne was by her side every step of the way.

Penny is survived by her husband of 33 years, Dwayne Wright; son, Cooper Wright and mother, Betty Mullins Morrow; sister, Ginger Morrow Cole (husband Steve) and nephew Wil Morrow, nieces Grace and Emma Cole and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Penny was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend to many and a strong Christian woman. Penny never wanted to be the center of attention even with health setbacks during Cooper’s senior year of high school.

Penny was a member of Highlands church of Christ in Lakeland, FL when she transitioned to heaven. She was also a long-time member at Maple Hill church of Christ in Lebanon, TN.

Penny was a daddy’s girl growing up on a farm near Hampshire, TN. Penny hunted, fished, hung tobacco and hams and various other farm tasks with “Pop”.

Penny was a 1985 graduate of Hampshire school. Penny loved to read, sew, cook, travel, spend time with friends and family but most of all watching her son play baseball.

Penny worked nearly 2 decades doing payroll and accounting before Cooper. Once Cooper came along, he became her priority as a stay-at-home mom.

Penny loved children and with Cooper in tow, worked as a preschool aid in the Little Lights - PreK program at Maple Hill church of Christ in Lebanon, TN for several years.

Penny’s love, generosity, and dry sense of humor will remain a guiding light for us and in all the lives she touched while remaining out of the spotlight.

A graveside celebration of Penny’s life will be held Saturday 8/29/26 at 11:30 AM at the Morrow Cemetery in Hampshire, TN with Brother Tim Parrish officiating.

Pallbearers will be Wil Morrow, Tommy Wright, Tim Graves, Chris Peercy, Barry Forum, Kyle Smith, Mike Smith and Rob Tignor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Penny’s name to the National Scleroderma Foundation online or the Little Lights preschool program at Maple Hill church of Christ in Lebanon, TN.
