Peter John Konesky, 90, a resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jeff Rockholt officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Viewing with family only will be on Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com. He was born on August 15, 1935 in Hibbing, Minnesota to the late Nicholas “Nick” Konesky and the late Hilma Nelimark Konesky. Pete graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and belonged to Gamma Delta and Theta Xi clubs. Pete’s mechanical engineering career included employment at FMC where he worked on the U.S. Navy Deep Dive System; Fluor Mining and Metals, Sierra Pacific Power and the Governor’s Office, Department of Energy of the State of Nevada. Pete was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Some of Pete’s hobbies included; working on automobiles, water polo, hunting, canoeing and boating, fishing and collecting guns. He also enjoyed eating ice cream sundaes, malts and the entire dish from Swensen’s Ice Cream Parlor called the “Earthquake.” Pete received, not one, but two, plaque’s on the restaurants wall honoring his consumption of the entire dish in one sitting.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Donna Lynn Brown Konesky of Columbia, TN; sons, David (Orlando) Konesky of California, Ken (Mary) Konesky of Wisconsin, and James (Kristee) Konesky of Utah; two daughters, Karen Scoefield of California and Becky (Steve) Nord of Nevada; adopted sons, Dalton Konesky of Utah and Timmy Konesky of Nebraska; two step-daughters, Christine (Jeff) Rockholt of Columbia, TN and Cindy (Frank) Domingez of California; two step-sons, Michael (Lisa) Hermann of Alabama and Scott Hermann of California; sister Margaret Barsness of Minnesota; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
