Mr. James Philip "Phil" Burgett, 79, retired Field Engineer with Burroughs (Unisys) Corporation, died Sunday, January 30, 2011 at his residence on Quality Street in Culleoka. A memorial graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 Wednesday at Friendship Cemetery with Corey Bell and John Vaughan officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Culleoka Church of Christ. The Marshall County native was the son of the late John David Cecil Burgett and Elma Dee Crabtree Burgett Ketchum. On May 10, 1951 he married Jennine Allen Burgett who preceded him in death on March 26, 2000. Mr. Burgett served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a past member of the Jaycees and served on the Maury County Board of Education in the 1970's. He was a Maury Regional Hospital Ambassador and a member of the Culleoka Coffee Club. He was a member and former deacon of Culleoka Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Steven A. (Pam) Burgett and David Blaine Burgett, both of Culleoka; two daughters, Pamela Burgett (David) Foster of Culleoka; Katherine Burgett (Laron) Pressnell of Athens, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Stephen Christopher Burgett and Alissa Jill (Josh) Davidson, both of Culleoka; David Joshua (Sharon) Burgett of Lewisburg; James Ross Burgett of Chapel Hill; William Jacob Foster, Anna Katherine Foster, and Laura Ellen Foster, all of Murfreesboro; Levi Addison (Leisa) Pressnell and Aaron Tyler "Jack" Pressnell, both of Athens, Alabama; five great grandchildren, Jaxon Lee Davidson and Emma Grace Davidson, both of Culleoka; Jessica Lauren Robinson, Shealyn Noel Burgett, and Noah Riley Burgett, all of Lewisburg; two brothers, J. C. Burgett of Lewisburg; H. Douglas (Rebecca) Burgett of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Chapman and one brother, H. Sloan Burgett. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Hardison, Robert Thompson, Justin Hobbs, Dustin Blocker, Daniel Blocker, Will Ring, David Hobbs, Tom Voss, Elders & Deacons of Culleoka Church of Christ, Larry Murphy, Frank Rumble, Jack Craig, and his many special friends.
