View Funeral Webcast Phyllis Jean White, 80, retired Journalist for The Columbia Daily Herald, Textron Aeronautics, and Fire Chief Reporter, died Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Rick Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Maury County Animal Shelter, 1233 Mapleash Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born February 8, 1940 in Greenwood, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Douglas White, Sr. and the late Evelyn May Borum White. Miss White made a career out of going to school and attended college for 7 seven years. She loved people, dancing, and cats. Miss White was a member of Donaldson Pike Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her brother, Hugh D. White, Jr. of Columbia; nieces, Tammy Kay (Tommy) Carroll of Columbia; Kim (Ricky) Reves of Mathison, Mississippi; Kade Goodwin (Wade) Laws-Andrews of Magnolia Springs, Alabama; nephew, Nathan (Christine) White of Columbia; great nieces and nephews, Randy (Erin) Carroll of Chattanooga; Coty (Maegan) Carroll of Columbia; Ryan (Mackenzie) Reves of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Lauren (Jonny) Hollis of Starksville, Mississippi; Jada Laws of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; Jaci Laws of Magnolia Springs, Alabama; Xavier White of Columbia; Phoenix White of Columbia; special aunt, Faye Borum; and special cousins, Stephanie Collins of Massachusetts; and Dan Collins of Texas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Reesie Lee Goodwin Robinson; sister-in-law, Elizabeth White. Active pallbearers will be employees of Columbia Fire and Rescue, Ty Cobb, and Walley Beasley. Honorary pallbearers include Margie and Dale Huckaby and Betty Jean Dangle.
