View Funeral Webcast Mrs. Rachel Anderson Anderson, 90, former longtime resident of the Duck River Community, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Life Care of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bill McDonald and Glenn Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Old Stand Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Old Stand Cemetery Association, c/o Carol Shelby,259 Shelby Road, Duck River 38454 or Eaatside Church of Christ Building Fund, 1024 East Valley Drive, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Hickman County native was the daughter of the late John Roscoe Anderson and Alma Farris Anderson. She was married to George Everett Anderson who preceded her in death September 1, 1982. Mrs. Anderson was a graduate of Hickman County Schools. For many years she was employed in the cafeteria at Shady Grove Elementary School. She was a member of Shady Grove Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Rita (Tommy) Skelley of Columbia; two grandchildren, Joel Thomas (Amanda) Skelley of Spring Hill, Kyle Lee (Gaynell) Skelley of Nashville; and five great-grandchildren, Samuel Thomas Skelley, Olivia Katherine Skelley, Lauren Elizabeth Skelley, Thomas Gordon Skelley and Anderson Robert Skelley. Active pallbearers are Joel Thomas Skelley, Kyle Lee Skelley, Ronnie King, Larry Savage, Barry Farris and Richard Farris. Honorary pallbearers include the men of Shady Grove Church of Christ, Clyde Farris, Stanfill Farris, Kenneth Farris, Lewis Farris, W.M. Morrow, Alvin Morrow, Jr., Roy Cochran, Doug King, Delton Mayberry, Frank Baker Mitchell, and James Robert Tucker.
