Rachel Louise Kelley Guthrie, 89, former long-time resident of Madison, Tennessee, died Saturday, November 8, at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in the Santa Fe Community in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Hardin Kelley and Bettie Southern Kelley. During World War II, she worked on the homefront as a "Rosie the Rivetor." She was a retired accounting technician for the State of Tennessee. She married Otis Raymond Guthrie on August 4, 1942. Their 61 year marriage ended with his death August 4, 2003. Survivors include her daughters, Vivian Louise (John P.) Tison of Hendersonville and Patricia Ann (William R.) Hutchinson of Decatur, Alabama ; granddaughter, Deanna Lynn Salazar of Nashville; great-granddaughter, Analise Salazar of Nashville; sister, Lorraine (Dale) Ireland of Murfreesboro; brothers Leroy Kelley of Adairville, Kentucky, Clifton (Betty) Kelley of Columbia, and James Rabon (Gwen) Kelley of Santa Fe; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Archie Fox and Ester "Stella" Davis; and a brother, Roland Kelley. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
