View Funeral Webcast Ray Clarence Dawson, 76, owner of Ray's Electric and resident of Rip Steele Road, died Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Carl May officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The Maury County native was the son of the late Leslie Howard Dawson, Sr. and Bertha Mai Hardison Dawson. He was a 1950 graduate of Culleoka High School and served in the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Dawson was a former employee of DuPont and retired from Sears. He also worked with his cousin W. D. Dawson in Dawson's Electric. He was a member of Berea Church of Christ and Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Roberta Andrews Dawson of Columbia; two sons, Danny (Barbara) Dawson and Derek Dawson, both of Columbia; six grandsons, Cameron Malugin, Cody Malugin, Jacob Malugin, Justin Dawson, Kevin Dawson, Kyle Dawson; one brother, Ralph Dawson of Franklin; son-in-law, Kenny Malugin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Gayle Dawson Malugin and Jan Dawson Malugin; two brothers, Leslie Dawson, Jr.; and one sister, Dorothy Mai Armstrong. Pallbearers are his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Julian Sharp, James Deen, members of Berea Church of Christ, and his coffee drinking friends at Waffle House, Stan's Restaurant, and McDonald's.
