Rayburn Gordon Jones, 75, retired welder, maintenance worker, and resident of Nashville, died Friday, September 26, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant Healthcare & Rehab. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Richard VanCleave officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Springs Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Avalon Hospice, 1407 N Locust Ave, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Ward Carmack Jones and Irene Dooley Jones. Mr. Jones was a twenty-five year employee of Do-All Tennessee Company and retired from Belmont University. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two sisters, Ann Carpenter and Dorothy Lawrence, both of Florence, Alabama; sister-in-law, Norma Younger of Santa Fe; lifelong friends, Charles & Judy Lee of Culleoka; and several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his brother, James Ward Jones; sisters, Alice Faye Pearson, Mary Scott "Scottie" George, and Mildred Elaine Jones; and brothers-in-law, J. L. Carpenter, Laurel Edwin Lawrence, and Dr. C. D. George. Active pallbearers will be Charles Lee, Tim Lee, Colton Wilson, Ricky Peden, Ervin "Ed" Lee, and Troy Derryberry. Honorary pallbearers will include Chris Gorbatoff, Jannette McKennon of Avalon Hospice, and members of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
