Retha Ann Slaughter Jett

Retha Ann Slaughter Jett, 51, former employee of Tennessee Farm Bureau and resident of Pleasant Drive, died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Elmer Lusk and Brian Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will visit Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, 220 Great Circle Road, Suite 134, Nashville, TN 37228 or American Heart Association or 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231. Notes of sympathy may be extended at oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Robert C. Slaughter and Annie Marie Brown Slaughter and a graduate of Columbia Central High School. Retha was a devoted care-giver to her Mother for many years. She attended Eastside Church of Christ, enjoyed traveling, and eating-out with her friends. Survivors include her aunts, Doris Brown Pratt of Columbia, Mattie Brown Williams of Woodhaven, Michigan, Erma (Alfred) Pagel of Columbia, and Inis Foster of Nashville; several cousins; care-giver, Phyllis Goad of Columbia; and beloved Shih Tzu, "Precious Marie." Shane Hickman, Josh Brawner, Thomas Brown, and Wayne Williams will serve as pallbearers.
