View Video Tributes Veiw Funeral Webcast Richard Lee Parks, 73, farmer, retired employee of Aramark Uniform Services and resident of Seavy Hight Road, died Friday, November 4, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Peery and Judge Bobby Sands officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Mount Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late Robert L. Parks and Virginia Jones Parks. He was a 1956 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mr. Parks was employed as Route Salesman with Aramark Uniform Services and his customers fondly referred to him as "Ragman". He also umpired softball for several years. He was a charter member of the Culleoka Lions Club, a member of Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a board member of Pleasant Mount Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Joelene Goodwin Parks of Columbia; one daughter, Valerie (Steve) Lynn of Culleoka; one son, Jeff (Shelia) Parks of Columbia; three grandchildren, Adam (Candice) Lynn, D'Anne (Michael) Waters, Trent Lee Parks; two great grandchildren, Blake Lynn and Abygail Lynn; two sisters, Frances (Charlie) Riddle of Columbia; Jo Ann Ashmore; and one brother, James L. "Pete" Parks of Shady Grove Community.He was preceded in death by one sister, Dot Craig.Active pallbearers will be Don Stonecipher, Jack Craig, Dennis Thrasher, David Craig, Jimmy Turner, D. C. Uzzell, Jerry Park, and Donny Walters. Honorary pallbearers will be Stewart Fisher, Tony Sowell, Billy Frank Jett, Penny & Tom White, Dietra & Tommy Dale, Mike Bray, and friends of Aramark Uniform Service.
