Robert Kenneth "Bob" Gammons, 83, former resident of Hilltop Drive, died Monday, April 18, 2011 at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine in Grapevine, Texas. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Polk Memorial Gardens with Jackie White officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Cowan, Tennessee he was the son of the late Herbert Gammons and Alma Milligan Gammons. He was a graduate of Haylong High School. On July 6, 1947 he married Dorothy "Dot" Eddlemon Gammons who preceded him in death on October 24, 1998. Mr. Gammons was a retired engineer with Occidental Chemical Co. and a member of Graymere Church of Christ and Spencer Hill Church of Christ. He loved gardening and handyman projects. He also loved spending time with his great grandchildren and watching them play sports. Survivors include his daughter, Gilda Gammons Lee of Keller, Texas; two brothers Jerry (Karen) Gammons of Richmond, Virginia and Ralph (Linda) Gammons of Monroe, Louisiana; two sisters, June Moss of Jacksonville, Florida and Carolyn (W.C.) Waldrop of Mt. Pleasant; three granddaughters, Sherri (Stan) Stephens, Stacy (Kelly) Just both of Keller, Texas, Ginny Gammons (Lee) Perlman of Denver, Colorado; and six great grandchildren, Justin Stephens, Shay Stephens, Kassidy Stephens, Josh Stephens, Jacob Just and Reese Perlman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Kenneth "Kenny" Gammons, Jr. in 1983, a grandson, Gabe Gammons, and three brothers Charlie Gammons, Herbert Gammons, and Carl Gammons. Pallbearers will be Jerry Gammons, Ralph Gammons, Stan Stephens, Justin Stephens, Kelly Just, Josh Stephens and W.C. Waldrop. Honorary pallbearer will be Jacob Just.
