View Video TributeRoger Dale South, 62, employee of the City of Franklin Street Department and resident of Dalton Avenue, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Boshers and Rev. Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Cullen South and Prudie Franklin South. Mr. South was a fan of NASCAR and dirt track racing. He especially enjoyed mowing grass and spending time with his family and his two Jack Russell Terriers Trixie and Dixie. Survivors include his wife of forty-three years, Patsy Massey South of Columbia; two daughters, Kim (Frank) Russell of Columbia; Leagh Ann Massey of Mt. Pleasant; one son, Darrel (Sandra) South of Culleoka; two sisters, Margie Nelson and Wanda Brooks, both of Columbia; one brother, Lonnie South of Columbia; four grandchildren, Joshua Russell, Paige Russell, Brittany "Brit Brit" South, Dillion "Bubs" South; and brother-in-law, Oscar Bradford of Columbia. He was preceded in death by three brothers, infant David South, Carter South, Hubert South; two sisters, Earline Wilson and his twin sister Judy Bradford; two sisters-in-law, Mary Francis South, Fronie South; and brother-in-law, Frank Nelson. Active pallbearers will be Joe Brown, David Cates, Danny Brooks, Terry Brooks, Donnie Roberts, and Mathew Cates. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and co-workers of City of Franklin and his ball park friends he made over the years. The family would like to express a special thanks to the nurses and doctors in the Critical Care Unit at Maury Regional Medical Center.
