Rosemary Putnam Young

View Video Tribute Rosemary Putnam Adkins Young, 64, retired medical clerk and longtime resident of the Hampshire Pike, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at NHC Columbia. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Steven Callicoatt officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12 - 2 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Mahlon Eugene Putnam and Joanne Hill Putnam. She was reared by her maternal grandparents, the late Joe W. Hill and Jennie Moore Bennett Hill. A 1964 graduate of Columbia Central High School, Mrs. Young retired from Marshall County Health Department in November 2009. She loved her cat, and enjoyed antiquing, shopping and crafts. She was a member of Pickwick United Methodist Church in Pickwick, Tennessee. Survivors include her children, Christopher Lee (Candice) Adkins, Joseph Steven (Kerry) Young, Andrew Bennett (Marissa Hughes) Young all of Columbia and Amy Denise Adkins (Steve Jamilowski) Odom of Culleoka; brother, Joseph Eugene (Kathy) Putnam of Ocala, Florida; sister, Nancy (Eddie) Fite of Georgia; grandchildren, Amie Cierra Young, Sara Elizabeth Owens and William Harlin Owens all of Columbia; multiple nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Fatty. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Ann Cooper and Penelope Putnam.
