View Video TributeSamuel Roy Parrish, 99, retired employee of Monsanto Company and resident of Lion Parkway, died Monday, January 13, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Timothy Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday after 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Sam Parrish and Florence Schrader Parrish. In October 1932 he married the former Annie Clark and they celebrated over eighty-one years of marriage. Mr. Parrish served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed gardening and traveling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a niece, Betty (Bobby) Beal of Huntsville, Alabama; and very devoted friends, Wanda Moore and Jennifer Moore, both of Columbia. He was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Elbert Parrish and John Parrish. Pallbearers will be Daniel Foolia, Eric Sandusky, Shane Sandusky, Roderick Bryson, David Sanders, and Fred Towns.
