Ruby Brooks Scott

Ruby Jeannette Brooks Scott, 72, retired employee of General Electric, died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at her residence on Hayes Denton Road. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 15, 1943 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Morrow Brooks and Mary Ellis Hann Brooks. On March 15, 1958 she married Nelson Scott who preceded her in death on August 4, 2009. Mrs. Scott was one of the original employees at General Electric in Columbia and continued her twenty-three year employment until her retirement at its closure. She enjoyed traveling and reading. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Joey Nelson (Lea Ann) Scott of Culleoka; daughters, Patty Scott and Pam Scott Cunningham, both of Columbia; Sherry Scott (Lloyd) Walters of Old Hickory; sister, Velma Moore of Culleoka; grandchildren, Christopher Allen Head, Adam Ross (Windy) Thurman, Eric Dewayne Burns, Amanda Rose Thurman (Jeff) Sneed, Jacob Edward Scott, Logan Nicole Scott; great grandchildren, Brayden Lee Burns, William Isaac Burns, Cutler Jase Thurman, Carter Jackson Sanders, Allison Nicole Curry; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Marna McAdams of Columbia. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Lentz and Mary Parks; and brother, Jimmy Ray Brooks. Pallbearers will be Chris Head, Adam Thurman, Eric Burns, Jacob Scott, Lloyd Walters, and Jeff Sneed.
