Ruth Hutson Duke, 85, former long-time resident of Alpine Drive, died Monday April 1, 2013 at Gardens of Providence Place in Mt. Juliet. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Charles Blythe officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing for her family. An avid reader, she read through the Bible a number of times and was a member of the First Assembly of God. Her husband of 52 years, Ray Duke, died August 3, 1998. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randall Ray and Rebecca Duke of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren, Cameron (Jessica) Duke of Cullowhee, North Carolina and Lauren Duke of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Barnwell of Hudson, North Carolina and Ed Montgomery of Parsons; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters; Lorraine Sneed, Johnnie Montgomery, Frankie Mathis, Mary Lee Barnwell, and brother, James Hutson. Active pallbearers are Cameron Duke, Richard Pearson, Mike King, Terry Dawson, Tim Smith, and Nate Bentley. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Barnwell, Ed Montgomery, and the men of First Assembly of God.
