View Video TributeView Funeral WebcastMrs. Ruth Mae Counts Mencer, 76, homemaker and resident of Lillian Circle, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Newton Counts and Susie Stofel Counts. She was married to Charles Mencer who preceded her in death on October 14, 1995. Mrs. Mencer was an avid bowler and was a member of several leagues through the years. She enjoyed attending gospel singings and was a member of Highland Church of God. Survivors include one daughter, Donna Kay (Brian) Parson of Columbia; three sons, Wendell (Embet) Mencer of Las Vegas, Nevada; Ricky Mencer of Columbia; Carlton (Cecilia) Mencer of Jacksonville, North Carolina; one sister, Judy (Fred) Hammond of Tacoma, Washington; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Stewart, J. R. Stewart, Tommy Counts, Johnny Counts, Harvey Moore, and Chevy White. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Hrishi Kanth and his staff.
