Ruth K Savage Saunders

Ruth K. Savage Saunders, 102, retired personnel manager for Corn Products in New York, New York and former resident of Memphis, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Life Care of Columbia. Graveside services will be Friday at 12:00 p.m. at Memphis Memorial Park in Memphis. Notes of condolence may be extended at oakesandnichols.com. A native of Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late John Hilton Savage and Ella Hughes Savage and widow of Hal C. Saunders. Survivors include her niece, Faye Vandiver of Columbia; nephew, R. N. "Nickey" (Brenda) Savage, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; several great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends, Irene LaBlanc and Oma Hindman. She was preceded in death by sisters, Lois Brook and Marie Hooberry and brothers, John Savage and Richard Savage. The family expresses appreciation to Dr. Hrishi Kanth and the staff of Life Care of Columbia for their care and kindness during her illness. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with local arrangements.
