View Video TributeMrs. Ruth Elizabeth "Libby" Derryberry Tate, 84, resident of Camelot Drive, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, P.O. The Williamson County native was the daughter of the late George M. Derryberry and Ruth Anna Tomlin Derryberry. On December 24, 1947 she married Thomas Richard Tate who preceded her in death April 27, 1991. She was retired from her job as produce manager at Lovett's IGA. Mrs. Tate loved flowers, was an excellent cook and enjoyed traveling. She was a member of Collegevue Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Sissy Tate (Frank) Jones of Williamsport; sons, Thomas N. "Butch" (Jan) Tate, George D. (Karen) Tate, Richard Alan (Sherry) Tate all of Columbia; sisters, Helen Carroll and Lois Westmoreland both of Columbia; brother, Don (Tina) Derryberry of Columbia; grandchildren, Todd Tate, Jason Tate, Scott Tate, Zach Tate, Dennis Beaver, Julie Jones, Tonya Benderman; nineteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Davidson and brother, J.C. Derryberry.Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Doris Lovett, Frances Petty, Martha Lentz, Janice Logue, Dr. Dan Skarzynski, Dr. Anuradha P. Mann, and employees of the Skilled Nursing Unit at Maury Regional Medical Center.
