Mrs. Sara Ella Beasley Grigsby, 95, resident of Trotwood Avenue, died Monday, October 19, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Robinson and Andrew Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Thursday after 9:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born September 9, 1920 in the Bethesda Community of Williamson County, she was the daughter of the late Seth Sparkman Beasley and Katherine Evans Beasley. On October 14, 1939 she married Reverend Glenn Oliver Grigsby and their 69 year marriage ended with his death May 14, 2009. She was a 1939 graduate of Bethesda High School and attended Nashville Business College. Mrs. Grigsby was a retired cashier with Duck River Electric for 30 years; she had recently attended the Second Annual Duck River Retiree Luncheon in September and received the honor of the longest retired employee. She was a Superstar with the Maury Regional Auxiliary where she started volunteering in 1985, and had recently attended the September meeting. During World War II she was a resident of Mt. Pleasant and was responsible for delivering telegraphs to the families of missing in action, killed in action, and injured service men. She was an outstanding seamstress, enjoyed quilting, loved tending to her flowers and going to yard sales. She was a very faithful member of Graymere Church of Christ and cherished her church family. Survivors include her son, William Beasley (Bettye) Grigsby of Columbia; daughters, Martha Ann Grigsby (Bruce) Hieronymus of Savannah, Tennessee; Ida Eugenia Grigsby (Robert) Pratt of Brandon, Florida; grandchildren, Beth Grigsby Cook of Hampshire; Becky Grigsby (Darren) Bobo and Billy (Kim Rochelle) Grigsby, both of Columbia; Troi Hieronymus (Derek) Hopkins of Deerfield, New Hampshire; Todd Beasley (Meredith Gabel) Pratt of Spring Hill, Tennessee; and Robyn Ashley Pratt (Donald) Stahl of Crossville, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Andrew Owens, Jesse (Marissa) Owens, Sam Hopkins, Sophie Hopkins, Aidan Pratt and Grace Pratt; several nieces and nephews; special friends and neighbors, Winnie Baker, Becky McNeese, Mary Farris, Larry & Henrietta Dooley, and Mable Taylor. She was preceded in death by sisters, Lera Travis and Katherine Warf; brothers Barnett Beasley, Zack Beasley and John Lee Beasley. Active pallbearers will be Todd Pratt, Billy Grigsby, Andrew Owens, Jesse Owens, Seth Warf, Peter Van Eys and Darren Bobo. Honorary pallbearers will include Maury Regional Auxiliary and Superstars, Past and Present Employees of Duck River Electric, Robert Pratt, Jack Grigsby, and Jan Van Eys. The family would like to express a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Maury Regional Medical Center Cardiovascular ICU and Critical Care ICU, and Dr. Thomas Farmer.
