Shamar Carlito Fason, born on April 12, 2021 went to his heavenly home on February 16, 2026. He was a bright light, a true angel on earth. He had the sweetest smile that could melt any heart, and was a blessing to all who had the opportunity to love him. He was happiest at home, but he also loved going to church at Maury Hills, school at Mt. Pleasant Elementary, the park, and the zoo. He loved music, books, and being held and snuggled. Most of all, he loved playing with and watching his siblings play. After many earthly struggles, he is now running and playing with Jesus.
He is survived by his parents, Austin and Maggie Craig; sisters, Greta Kate Craig, Isabel Craig, and Harmoni Wesby; brother Elijah Craig; grandparents, Lori and Keith Farmer, Kelly Butler, and Jennifer Fason; and great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly. He is also survived by his best friend Makaylee Rogers who so lovingly served as his private duty nurse for 2 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chalmar Fason, and his grandfather, Jason Craig.
The family would like to express the sincerest gratitude to the staff and preschool students at Mt. Pleasant Elementary, the staff at Quality First Home Care, the staff at Youth Villages, the staff at Caris Hospice, and all of his therapists, social workers, nurses, and physicians who provided Shamar with the best possible care and support.
The family will visit with loved ones in a celebration of Shamar’s life and his reunion with the Lord on Friday, February 27, from 4-7 PM at Maury Hills Church. Shamar was able to see best in bright colors, so the family requests that everyone wear something bright and cheerful if possible. Red was his favorite.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations can be made in Shamar’s memory to United Cerebral Palsy of Middle Tennessee.
