Shelby C. Thomas

Shelby Campbell Thomas, 79, resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2026, at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.

Born March 16, 1947, in Columbia, Shelby was the daughter of the late Claude Campbell and the late Laura Campbell. On June 6, 1969, she married Ollie L. Thomas, and they shared 57 years of marriage together. Shelby attended Columbia State Community College and Belmont University, where she earned her nursing degree. She loved her career as a registered nurse and found great fulfillment in helping others. She retired as a charge nurse from Maury Regional Medical Center.

An animal lover, Shelby also enjoyed reading and was an avid storyteller. Those who knew her will remember her entertaining stories, which seemed to grow a little bigger each time she told them. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church.

In addition to her loving husband, Ollie L. Thomas, she is survived by her nieces, Jennifer (Jon) King and Karen Lane; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph Campbell and Clyde Campbell.
