View Video TributeMrs. Shirley Ann Cummings Mitchell, 75, resident of East Sheepneck Road in the Culleoka Community, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Culleoka. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be extended at oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late W. Kenneth Cummings and Lillian Thomas Cummings. She was a former long-time member of Culleoka United Methodist Church. For several years, Mrs. Mitchell was associated with Fisher Carpet Company. Survivors include her husband, Roy H. Mitchell of Culleoka; son, Troy Mitchell of Culleoka; sisters, Mildred (Otis) Whitley of Columbia and Faye Dodson of Ethridge; and brother, Odie Cummings of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Harlan Cummings. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Whitley, Justin Whitley, Tim Sharpton, Tommy White, Kenny White, Bart Whatley, Roger Sweeney, Mickey Hickman, and Randall Hickman.
