View Funeral WebcastMrs. Sue Holden Church, 100, former long-time resident of the Cross Bridges Community, died Friday at Sterling House of Columbia where she made her home the past 2 and one half years. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Frank Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Cedar Hill Cemetery Association, c/o Doug Garner, 3524 Hampshire Pike, Mt. Born and reared in the Hampshire Community of Maury County, she was one of seven children of the late Will Holden and Lillie Rochelle Holden and attended Hampshire High School. On January 21, 1928 she married Joe Hollan Church. Their 68 year marriage ended with his death April 20, 1996. She was a wonderful homemaker and loving mother to her three children, loved working in her vegetable and flower gardens, and tending to chores on their Cross Bridges farm. Mrs. Church was an active member of Cedar Hill Church of Christ for over 60 years. She is survived by her children, Faye Church Borum of Columbia and H. Douglas (Frankie Albright) Church, Sr. of Cross Bridges; grandchildren, Suzanne Borum Holloway, H. Douglas Church, Jr., Gina Church (Steve) Kindler, Lisa Church (Kevin) Sailer, and Dawn Woodard Potts; great-grandchildren, McClain Borum Holloway, Sean (Chelsie) Crabtree, Bryan Kindler, Layne (Michelle) Sailer, Matthew (Andie) Sailer, Hayden Preston Church, Morgan Gordon (Tyler) Powell, and Holden Potts; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Holden Garner; sister-in-law, Opel Gordon Holden; special friend and care-giver, Betty Thurman; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Church Alley November 17, 2009. Active pallbearers are Joe Holden, Larry Holden, Ray Holden, H. Douglas Church, Jr., Steve Kindler, Sonny Thomas, Bryan Kindler, and Wayne Garner. Honorary pallbearers include Holden Potts, Horace Dawson, Frank McMeen, J. W. Garner, Doug Garner, Dr. John Simmons, and staff of Sterling House of Columbia.
