Margaret Susan Kinzer Ivey, age 85, passed away on August 28, 2026, at Poplar Estates in Columbia, Tennessee.
Susan was born on February 15, 1941, in Sawdust, Tennessee, to the late Easom Caldwell Kinzer and Margaret Ella Hamilton Kinzer. She was married in 1964 to Leon Enlo Ivey, who preceded her in death in October 2012. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Martha Kinzer Lord.
She is survived by her children, Eric (Patsy) Ivey, Stephen (Chindo Buzille) Ivey, and Melissa (Brian) Bassham and 6 grandchildren, Mariah Ivey, James (Kayla) Ivey, Rachel Ivey, Cam Ivey, Alaina Ivey, and Lucy Bassham, and her dear best friend, Bridget Loveless.
Susan was a lifelong member of Williamsport United Methodist Church. She attended Woodrow School and Central High School where she graduated in 1959 and went on to Martin Methodist College. After college, she began working at Bluegrass Regional Library where she drove the bookmobile until her retirement.
In her retirement, her most important and loved job was keeping her grandchildren. She loved her children unconditionally, but her grandchildren truly held a special place in her heart, for in them she found so much joy and happiness.
When not spending time with her grandchildren, she loved planting flowers, volunteering at the hospital and at NHC, playing Bunco with her friends, and reading books.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all her caregivers at Poplar Estates and Gentiva Hospice. There were so many wonderful people who loved on her and cared for her during her residence. A special thank you to Yulette Sparkman, Dawn Rowe, Jennifer Diehl, Gail, and Melissa for loving her like she was their own.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 5, at Williamsport United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM, with the Rev. Jeff Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Williamsport Cemetery, located behind the church. Visitation will be held at the church for two hours prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Eric Ivey, Stephen Ivey, James Ivey, Cam Ivey, Brian Bassham, Jared Sullivan, and Mark Benderman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Williamsport Cemetery c/o Boo Bratton. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.
