Susie Mai Estes, 48, former Columbia resident, passed away August 11, 2009 in New York City after valiantly battling cancer for many years. A celebration of her life will be observed Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in New York. Graveside services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Columbia. Susie made her home in New York City for over 29 years where she established herself as a well-known restauranteur. Highly respected by her co-workers and customers, she co-owned and managed the popular eatery, Cow Girls Hall of Fame, and was beloved by a wealth of friends in both New York and Columbia. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ellie Marie Johnson Estes and father, Charles Fowler Estes; nephew, John Kameron Delk and great-nephew, Haden Alexander Delk. Survivors include her care-giver, Mark Rosenfeld of New York; sisters, Patricia (Pete) Ridley, Tammy Delk; brother, Chuck (Lynne) Estes; several nieces and nephews, all of Columbia; very special friend and former Columbia resident, Ronnie Pigg; and special friend and private nurse, Vicki Smith of New York.
