View Video Tribute Teddy Eugene "Ted" Lindsey, 88, retired salesman for Porter-Walker Company with over thirty years service, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at his residence on Woods Drive. Family and friends will gather for visitation Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. A Prayer Service will be at 3:00 p.m. with Roger Riddle officiating. The Riddle-Williams Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Private family interment will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family suggests memorials to Concord Cemetery Association, c/o Billy Church, 2771 Ragsdale Road, Columbia 38401. Notes of condolence may be extended at oakesandnichols.com. Born in Hickman County, he was the son of the late Frank Lindsey and Fannie Carolyn Blankenship Lindsey. After enlisting in the U. S. Army during World War II, he graduated from airplane mechanic school and received engine specialist training for B-29 Bombers. He was assigned to duty on the island of Guam in the Pacific Theatre of Operation and attained the rank of Sergeant. For a number of years, he was a self-employed licensed electrician. He was a member of Graymere Church of Christ and the Riddle-Williams Sunday School Class and Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Mr. Lindsey enjoyed farming and gardening for many years at his former home on the Old Williamsport Pike. Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Virgina Curtis Lindsey, whom he married September 25, 1946; daughters, Vicky (Jeff) Waldbeser of Chicago, Illinois and Tonnya (Tom) Lucas of Columbia; brother, Claudie Lindsey of Columbia; grandchildren, Josh (Christine) Waldbeser of Chicago, Whisey Taylor of Columbia and Heather (Tyler) Adkerson of Chicago; great-granddaughter, Reese Olivia Adkerson of Chicago; sisters-in-law, Mary (Sam) Moore of Plano, Texas, Lucille Cherry of Clarksville, Martha (Roy) Enoch of Denton, Texas, and Faye (Ned) Pollard of Columbia; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lois Young, Bertie Bibb, Thelma Lindsey, Catherine Lindsey, and Doris Church; and brothers, Paul Lindsey, Leon Lindsey, Hubert Lindsey, Elmer Lindsey, Wallace Lindsey, Clyde Lindsey, Robert Lindsey, and Calvin Lindsey.
