Terry Lynn Buie, 72, pipefitter/welder for 15 years with Steamfitters Local 614 in Jackson, Tennessee, died Friday, May 30, 2014 at his residence on Snow Creek Road in the Santa Fe Community. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Sherry Ladd officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Notes of sympathy may be extended at oakesandnichols.com. Born in the Summertown Community in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Arnold Douglas Buie and Mary Louise Gilbreath Buie. He served in the U. S. Army for four years and the U. S. Navy for two years and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. He was also a member of Santa Fe Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Buie loved farming and tending to his dwarf goats, cattle, and sheep. An avid craftsman, he crafted gates from scrap metal and performed numerous tasks for his church and the community. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Pigg Buie of Santa Fe, whom he married September 2, 1995; children, Trenessa (Steve) Auberry of Kentucky, David Buie, Donald Buie, and Douglas Buie, all of Tennessee; step-children, Connie (Jim Poling) White of Columbia and Cathey (Jeff) Thomason of Santa Fe; sisters, Barbara (Rick) Robinson of Mt. Pleasant and Vivian Gulley of Lawrenceburg; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are Rick Robinson, Phillip Wright, Ben Thomason, Daniel Thomason, Derrick Scott, Brandon Burcham, Jimmy Humphrey, and Charles Pigg.
