Thelma Handschu Beauchamp

Mrs. Thelma Handschu Beauchamp, 106, resident of Morris Avenue, died Monday, January 30, 2012 at NHC Columbia. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 12:00 noon at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Billy Kimbrough officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 2790 Pulaski Pike, Columbia, TN 38401 . Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.The Washington, Illinois native was the daughter of the late William Handschu and Jesse Schmaltz Handschu. She graduated from High School in Indiana. In 1936 she married Lowell Albert Beauchamp who preceded her in death in 1969. Mrs. Beauchamp was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Thomas William (Jeri) Beauchamp of Inman, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Betsy Beauchamp of Greenville, South Carolina and Bill Beauchamp of Baltimore, Maryland; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Charlie Beauchamp. Friends will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to express special thanks to the nurses, staff and volunteers at NHC Columbia.
